F/S Linwood drowned, it was his first operational flight with the Squadron.
The survivors were picked up by ASRS - Air Sea Rescue Services.

253 aircraft - 108 Wellingtons, 64 Lancasters, 47 Stirlings, 34 Halifaxes - dispatched,
the first time that 4-engined bombers provided more than half of the force on a major raid.
The Bremen report shows that 48 houses were destroyed and 934 damaged, mostly lightly.
Extensive damage occurred in 5 important war industries, including the Focke-Wulf factory and the A.G. Weser U-boat construction yard,
and at the local gasworks, a museum and a merchant-navy college. Most of this damage was caused by fire.
11 aircraft - 4 Stirlings, 4 Wellingtons, 3 Halifaxes - were lost.

13 aircraft took off between 2322 and 2334 hours to attack target BREMEN.
12 aircraft successfully located and attacked target despite 10/10ths cloud and bombing from heights ranging
between 11000 and 16000 feet dropped their bombs by T.R. fix and visual observation, observing bursts in dock area,
build up area and railway yards.
Several large fires started in target area and leaflets were dropped.
1 aircraft developed engine trouble during the outward journey, jettisoned its bombs and turned back.
This aircraft landed in the sea 4 members of the crew being picked up later.
0444. All the aircraft with exception of A/C. H.B.J.796 (Captain P/O. STANFORD) had returned safely to base after operations.
P/O. Stanford, Sgt. Cooper, Sgt. Gardiner and Sgt. Darlington became POW when
Wellington X3726 - KO-A was hit on 22 July 1942 over Duisburg by flak and the crew bailed out.
