692 aircraft - 462 Lancasters, 200 Halifaxes, 30 Mosquitos,
were sent to bomb 6 German positions in front of a mainly American ground attack in the Villers Bocage Caumont area.
The presence of cloud caused many difficulties and only 377 aircraft were able to bomb, on to Oboe markers,
and only 2 of the 6 targets were effectively hit.
4 Lancasters lost.

ORB 30th July, 1944.
20 aircraft (6 from "A" Flt., 8 from "B" Flt., & 6 from "C" Flt.)
were detailed to attack AMAYE-SUR-SEULLES and took off
between 05.57 hours and 06.16 hours.
One aircraft failed to return from operations - no news being received.
the others identified the target by P.F. flares and yellow, red & green indicator
markers, and the majority bombed as instructed by the Master Bomber,
from heights ranging between 1,000 feet and 3,000 feet.
Many bomb bursts were seen in target area and attack was well concentrated.
The target was covered with clouds of smoke. some photographs were attempted.
2 aircraft were hit by bomb burst fragments.
On return, most of the aircraft were diverted to WOODBRIDGE, owing to
low cloud conditions over base.
09.15 4 aircraft had returned safely to base after operations.
10.16 15 aircraft had landed at WOODBRIDGE after operations.
