It was ascertained that Sgts Casey and Duncan did not leave the a/c.

This concentrated attack fell into areas of Cologne which were north and west of the city centre
and partly industrial in nature.
192 industrial premises suffered various degrees of damage, together with 725 buildings described as
'dwelling-houses with commercial premises attached'. 7 railway stations or yards were also severely damaged.

4 Lancasters lost.

Total effort for the night: 1,155 sorties, 15 aircraft (1.3 per cent) lost.
The number of sorties flown was a new record.

ORB. 20th APRIL 1944.
22 aircraft were detailed to attack COLOGNE and took off between 23.52 hours and 00.21 hours.
10/10ths cloud was experienced by all crews and identification of target was solely by means of target indicators.
Path Finder Force were late and very scattered.
From many reports received the attack was considered poor.
Cloud prevented the results of bombing, but some crews observed red glow of fires from a considerable
distance on leaving the target area.
One crew (E.HK.545 - Captain P/O. E. MOON) reported fires seen half way across North Sea.
Aircraft N.D.805 (Captain P/O. D. CAMERON) was hit by 11 incendiaries (fell on starboard aileron flap rudder trim)
presumably from friendly aircraft.
Damage was done to aircraft and fire broke out whish was eventually extinguished. Aircraft landed at WOODBRIDGE.
Aircraft DS.728 (F/S. Bertram-Captain) reported missing from operations - no news received from time of take-off.
Photographs were taken.

04.40. 20 aircraft had returned to Base. 1 aircraft landed at WOODBRIDGE at 03.40 hours.
