Collided with Lancaster MK I HK595 KO-A in a mid air collision over Leverkusen, 9 KIA.

177 Lancasters of No 3 Group carried out a G-H attack on the oil plant at Dortmund.
The raid, through thick cloud, was believed to have been accurate.
2 Lancasters lost.

19 aircraft took off to attack synthetic oil plant at DORTMUND. (Take off between 12.52 hours to 12.47 hours.)
2 aircraft failed to return - no news being received.
Bombing was carried out by the remainder in 10/10 cloud by special apparatus from heights ranging between 16,500 feet and 19,500 feet.
It was impossible to access results but bombing appeared to be well concentrated. Photographs were attempted.
2 aircraft (flying in formation) were seen to explode in the air.
17.37. 17 aircraft had returned safely to Base after Operations.
Attached is a letter to 15 MREU stating that both aircraft were shot down by Flak.
