My Sister and I have recently donated the 3 foot square
canvas Emblem depicting Dad as The Owl with his crew perched on his back doing their jobs in cartoon fashion to the RAF Witchford Display of Memorobilia.

The original idea came from my Grandfather, and was transformed into a painting on canvas by a Cartoonist for a London Evening Paper. This was then doped onto the outside of Dad’s Lancaster just below his side window and survived many raids over Germany. The canvas suffered much ice and flack damage, but when the Crew finished their tour of duty they removed the canvas and Dad kept it rolled up in the back of his wardrobe for many years.

Just before a large Reunion in 1984 he had the 40 year old canvas ‘touched up’, mounted on a solid board and framed.
