Incendiaries were seen to ignite and the whole town was reported to be a mass of concentrated fires.
1 aircraft was forced to abandon the sortie due to rear turret trouble and returned early after jettisoning its bombs.

8 aircraft took of on operations between the hours of 2018 and 2245 to attack target KARLSRUHE and on GARDENING OPERATIONS.
Of the six aircraft detailed to attack KARLSRUHE, three were forced to abandon the sortie and returned to base early due to compass trouble in one case and engine trouble in the others. Each aircraft jettisoned its bombs.
The other three aircraft successfully located the target and bombed the town and built up area from heights ranging between 11.000 and 11.500 feet. Numerous bursts were observed and concentrated fires were started all over the town. Photographs were attempted.
The two aircraft detailed for GARDENING OPERATIONS dropped their mines in the allotted positions by T.R. and D.R. fixes from heights of 2.500 feet.

Photographs were attempted.

One aircraft was detailed for GARDENING OPERATIONS and dropped its mines in the allotted position by T.R. and D.R. fixes from a height of 2.800 feet.
Eight aircraft successfully located the target DUISBERG and bombing from heights ranging between 12.000 and 15.000 feet, dropped their bombs in the marshalling yards causing fires, some of them apparently oil fires. Many fires were also started in the built up area and on and around the aiming point.

8 aircraft took off on operations between the hours of 2034 and 2054 to attack target FRANKFURT and bombed visually from heights ranging between 11.000 and 14.000 feet. Incendiaries were seen to ignite in the centre of the old town and a big oil fire was observed on island. Good fires were seen in the built up areas, South of the river, in the centre of the old town, North of the river and the dock area. Heavy bombs were dropped just East of aiming point.
Two aircraft were forced to abandon the sortie one owing to engine trouble and the other to turret trouble, and returned to base early after jettisoning their bombs.
One aircraft landed at HUNSDON on the return trip.

A ground haze reduced visibility but the aircraft bombed from heights ranging between 12.000 and 14.500 feet. Numerous bursts were observed and many fires were seen burning in the town as well as concentrated fires along North Easterly side of town with many smaller ones to South West in the town. Leaflets were dropped and photographs attempted.
0554. All the aircraft had returned safely to base after operations.

A/C. R.Z.1657. (Captain P/O. BERRY) bombing from a height of 13.500 feet dropped his incendiaries which were seen to ignite. Large numbers of fires were observed several of them large ones, the glow from them being visible from the coast. A photo was attempted.

A/C. V.BJ.965. (Captain Sgt. CRIMMIN) bombing from a height of 14.000 feet dropped his bombs without observing any results. Terrific fires probably along North East side of town with many smaller fires to South West of town were observed, and hangar like buildings were seen ablaze.

A/C. W.BJ.842. (Captain F/L. MOORE) bombing from a height of 12.000 feet dropped his bomb which was seen to burst in town. Good fires were observed in the town. Leaflets were dropped.

All the aircraft had returned safely to base after operations by 05.54 hours.

2 aircraft returned to base early, one jettisoning its bombs during combat with enemy aircraft and the other bringing its bombs back due to wireless receiver trouble.
The remainder successfully located the target and bombed from heights ranging between 9.500 and 18.000 feet. Very few bombs were seen to burst owing to bad visibility but many scattered fires were observed as well as three large ones burning close to buildings. Leaflets were dropped and photographs attempted.

5 aircraft took off for operations between the hours of 2009 and 2020 to attack target SAARBRUCKEN.
One aircraft returned to base early after a combat with an enemy aircraft had delayed it making it too late to attack target. This aircraft brought back 7 S.B.C's.
The other four aircraft successfully located the target and bombed from heights ranging between 6.000 and 12.000 feet. Incendiaries were seen to ignite and start scattered fires all over the town. A direct H.E. hit was observed on a factory 1/2 mile South of aiming point and a big fire resulted.
One aircraft landed at MILDENHALL on return from operations.
