Shot down by night fighter Oblt Helmut Woltersdorf, IV./NJG1. Radio message received, "Am landing in the sea". Crashed in the North Sea at 0217 on a sand bank near Schiermonnikoog, Netherlands. All three night fighter crew injured but rescued by a German ASR.

Also Wellington MK IC X9672 KO-U, was lost on the same mission to Munster, Germany.
